Advanced Portfolio Art

This specialized program will guide students through proper preparation, practice and presentation for their art portfolio.  Students can include previous art work as well as create new pieces as per Mina’s professional recommendations.  The competition is high, students will research all requirements and will be provided with insight into the admittance process.  They will consult with Mina during each class and will work toward a timeline to complete all requirements for their application.  A professional portfolio expresses a competitive edge, students are advised to enrol early as preparations require months of hard work.

 

 

Advanced Portfolio Sewing

This specialized program will guide students through proper preparation, practice and presentation for their fashion portfolio.  Students can include previous garments and fashion art as well as create new pieces as per Mina’s professional recommendations.  The fashion industry is very competitive.  Students will research all requirements and will be provided with insight into the admittance process.  They will consult with Mina during each class and will work toward a timeline to complete all requirements for their application.  Fashion portfolios require both art and garment components.  Students are advised to enrol early and allow for months of preparation.

 

 

 

Advanced Level One “Prepping Yourself”

As a concrete step toward their future goals, students will first be prepped with all the necessary information, do’s, don’ts and tricks of the trade.  Students will further develop their skills in advanced professional presentation skills, interviews, portfolios, resumes and networking.  They will become resourceful and optimize all opportunities while prepping for a successful future ahead.

 

 

 Advanced Level Two “Practical Experience”

Practical experience is a huge asset when entering the work place.  Students will develop advanced networking skills, while being given the opportunity to meet professionals in their field.  This experience puts theory into practice.  Asking relevant questions, learning how to build strong relationships and create their own opportunities.  Students will be prepped with a personal image consultation, etiquette skills and training required to present themselves professionally in social, academic or business events.  Pre-Requisite: Advanced Level One “Prepping Yourself”.

 

 

 Advanced Level Three “Personal Development”

Personal development is a program created for leaders.  Students will gain a better sense of self.  They will identify their strengths and weaknesses and strategically learn to use them to their advantage.  The core fundamentals that they have learned through levels one and two will be practiced and perfected in this term.  Personalization is the key.  Anyone can follow instructions; however those that succeed in their ability to socialize and trade mark their talent, gain a competitive edge.   This program provides one-on-one mentorship for each student to develop these leadership qualities.  Pre-Requisite: Advanced Level Two “Practical Experience”.

 

 

Advanced Creative & Technical Arts

The technical arts are very creative.  They incorporate a variety of materials, media and techniques.  Students must visualize their designs, coordinate the components and engineer their projects.  They will be given artistic freedom to present pieces that have meaning, purpose and functionality.

 

 

Advanced Storytelling, Boarding & Scripting

Students will develop a script for a short story and develop it into a series of storyboards.  They will advance their skills in writing and animating caricatures from theory to practical as they do in the industry.  For students aspiring to continue their education in film and/or animation, this program will provide the fundamentals required.  This program is an impressive addition to your portfolio.

 

 

Advanced Video Production & Digital Editing-Adobe Premier & Encore

This program explores the making of trailers, commercials and short films.  Students will advance their skills in Adobe Premier and Encore programs while working on their projects.  By the end of the term, they will have created a DVD of all their projects including digital editing. This is a great portfolio addition.

 

 

Advanced Gaming

Students will learn the history of gaming.  The program presents students with an opportunity to create a story, storyboards, narration and dialog for their own video game.  Gaming is an interactive media, it is very different from cinema, and the structure and outcome present countless possibilities.

 

 

 Advanced Fundamentals and Technical Theory of Photography

Students will learn the technical and theoretical aspects of photography.  Projects will focus on developing creativity.  Students will demonstrate their understanding of technical skills, as well as the elements and principles of design through their photographs. Projects will include the work of professional photographers as well as photographs taken by the students.  This program requires that students bring their own digital camera.

 

 

Advanced Adobe Photoshop

Adobe Photoshop is a very popular program used by digital image-makers, graphic designers and photographers around the world. It can be used to take any existing image and give it a professional and polished look. Students will develop advanced skills, uses and functionality for Photoshop.  They will work on projects and exercises that they can include in their portfolios.

 

 

Advanced Adobe Illustrator

Adobe Illustrator is a vector based drawing program different from Photoshop that can be used in print, online, video and even on your cell phone. Students will develop advanced skills, uses and functionality for Illustrator.  They will work on projects and exercises that they can include in their portfolios.

 

 

Advanced Adobe Flash & Dreamweaver

Dreamweaver and Flash are two peas in a pod. They have been designed to work together for publishing websites and animations.  Students can jazz up web pages by using Flash in Dreamweaver templates.  Students will be introduced to a variety of website templates, learn to organize and manage a website as well as create and format web pages.

Advanced Make-Up Application

The advanced Make-Up Artistry program will consist of industry-essential classes that prepare students to work as professionals and teach them how to uphold strong, positive reputations with their clientele. Classes range from basic application and theory to makeup design of special effects. Upon completing this program, students will have advanced knowledge, understanding and experience working on a large assortment of projects that vary in style, and model types.  At the end of the program students will have the opportunity to showcase their talent in a photo shoot.  Make-Up Kit Recommended!

 

Professional Make-Up Application

In this program students will learn to expand their knowledge of the fast-paced industry. Our curriculum was developed to provide a thorough understanding of this profession and the broad opportunities the field provides. We will offer classes that involve vital career tools such as resume planning, portfolio building, and essentially assist in branding the student to ensure a positive image in the cosmetic field. Imperative classes such as client consultations, product knowledge, and diverse companies’ histories/reputations will guarantee the student an extensive comprehension of how to market themselves in this limitless business.

Advanced Mixed Media

For students wishing to create impressive pieces for their portfolios, this program is right for you.  Mixed media projects force students to think outside the box and develop their own techniques.  Projects will focus on the student’s ability to play with different mediums and combine them together in creative ways that send a message to the viewer.  Students are given full creative freedom.  It is here that their true talent and potential will shine.

 

 

Advanced Fine Art & Illustration

Mastering in the techniques of fine art and illustration are a gift that must be commemorated.  In this program students will focus on detail and precision of each project assigned.  Students will challenge themselves through the accuracy, proportion and imitation of photorealism.  These projects will be a great asset to their portfolios.

 

 

Figure Drawing

This program focuses on drawing the human figure from live observation both clothed and unclothed.  A range of structured exercises varying from short gestures to sustained poses, the principles of composition, proportion and volume are explored through line and tone and the modelling of light and shadow.  Anatomy and portraiture are introduced, as well as techniques such as measuring, reference point, hatching and contour drawing.

 

 

Advanced Colour Theory & Design Presentation

One cannot underestimate the use of colour.  It is a stimulant for the mind and it engages the audience’s attention.  When used correctly colour can represent a meaning, emotion or quality.  Students will learn the psychology of colour and how to use it to enhance their work.  Incorporating colour into art pieces and presentations can make or break them.  The correct use of colour is one of the biggest tricks of the trade.

 

 

Advanced Sewing Casual Wear

This program will provide students with advanced instruction and experience constructing casual garments.  Students can choose from a selection of intricate garments that they can alter to their preference and style interests.  They will learn the professional process, skills and techniques required to perfect and create beautifully crafted pieces.  Emphasis will be placed on precision, choice and care of fabric as well as making advanced fit and pattern alterations.  Highly recommended for students with hobby interests, professional development or portfolio preparation requirements.

Advanced Draping, Drafting, Muslin & Garment Construction

This program provides highly specialized training for students who express a strong interest in fashion and wish to apply to post-secondary institutes for fashion design.  This is the perfect program for the aspiring designer as it is an all-in-one program that will require one year to complete.  Students will be taken through the process of garment draping, drafting, alterations, fabric choice, accessories, notions and construction.  Draping is a form of garment design that is not only creative, fun and interactive, but challenging at the same time.  Students enjoy the experience of draping because it begins with their imagination.  This program is essential for all aspiring designers.

 

 

Advanced Fashion Art, Illustration & Life

Students who aspire to become designers and apply to fashion design post-secondary schools are highly advised to enrol into this program.  The focus of this program will be to conceptualize and design collections using a variety of figure forms taken from both resources and from life drawing exercises.  Students will present their collection in a variety of stylized illustrations for various industry and media presentations.

 

 

Advanced Fashion Design & Technical

This program will focus on understanding all elements and concepts in designing garments.  Students will exercise techniques in fabric behaviours, qualities and characteristics, they will also learn to design garments and accessories with functionality and purpose.  All designs will be drawn in conceptual and technical form by industry standards.  This program will provide students with techniques and skills that they are required to learn for preparation toward college/university programs.

 

 

 Advanced Fashion and Costume Creative Development

Creative development is the key to success.  It is highly encouraged that students explore and experience a variety of projects that will challenge their imaginations and ability to think outside the box.  This program is not focused on realistic design ideas.  Rather, it provides an opportunity for students to forget about industry standards and trends and freely express their creative talents toward: wearable art, costumes, fashion design and show pieces.
