Art Beat

Art Beat is transforming and growing on a whole new level. In partnership with the City of Vaughan’s Economic & Culture Department and Canada 150, the community has embraced this exciting festival. As advocates of arts and culture Facade Academy is reaching out to the entire community and assisting to showcase and celebrate the amazing talent found right here in Vaughan.

Critique Week

Critique Week connects with teens through video in 3 ways: as a fun way to learn about the media arts, as a platform for self-expression, and to raise awareness of community issues.

Each year a hot-topic is assigned and participants are challenged to create a 3 minute video presentation tackling an important issue. A new subject will be introduced each year upon which the video challenge will be based. The subject matter will be thought provoking while addressing issues being faced both locally and globally. The video submissions will then be reviewed and finalists will be selected for showcase.

The Critique Week Showcase Event will give finalists the opportunity to showcase their work, learn from industry experts, participate in workshops, and win prizes!

The Video Challenge offers students a fun and creative opportunity to explore the subject matter while providing the opportunity to:

Raise awareness towards relevant issues

Learn about the media arts

Receive feedback from industry experts

Win awards and prizes

The winner of Critique Week will receive a grand prize related to the Art of Film and Television Production. All participants will receive assorted gifts and prizes from our sponsors.
